Sebastian Thrun, Founder, Google X

Sebastian Thrun is one of the architects of self-driving technology. As a Stanford professor, he led the team that built Stanley, the vehicle that won the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge and laid the groundwork for the autonomous vehicle industry. He joined Google in 2007, where he co-founded Google X, the moonshot lab behind the self-driving car project that became Waymo. He also co-founded Udacity, which served over 21 million learners before its acquisition by Accenture. Today, Thrun is CEO of Sage AI Labs and Chairman of Cresta, and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering at 39.
